The Time I Wrote a Bunch of Poems – [DAY 7] ‘MONEY’

Today’s prompt: “I challenge you to write about money! It could be about not having enough, having too much (a nice kind of problem to have), the smell, or feel, or sensory aspects of money. It could also just be a poem about how we decide what has value or worth.”

Here

and here:

How Much Is Enough?

Enough to eat whatever

And forget how much things cost

Always guessing values

How much is enough?

I wish I didn’t have to think

Just buy what I fancy

Knowing my account will never be

Less than what I need

Money is great when you have it

Never there when you need it

Overdraft in red letters

Pay upon receipt

Quickpay, Paypal

Under the table cash pay

Various ways to drain

What little there is to start

I expected more by now

Why don’t the numbers add up?

Before taxes, it’s a lot

Cut down to size

Dammit, never enough.
